Abstract

The archaeological team of IAET SB RAS conducted archaeological field works in the Ust-Chyorninskoye fortified settlement in the Sretensky District of the Transbaikal Region. The team researched the pit-dwelling No. 2 where burnt remains of the dwelling were found. The architecture of the dwelling, in general, does not differ from the dwellings that were excavated before at this site. Holes from the pillars were noted in the four corners of the foundation pit. Rafters were located diagonally to the center of the dwelling. The main findings were fragments of Troitsky type vessels and iron items. The ritual pig burial was noted under the plank bed in the dwelling. The skull of the animal was placed separately under the northern plank bed, the remaining bones under the eastern part of the plank bed. Additional material for the research of the housebuilding of the inhabitants of the Shilka fortified settlements was collected. Ritual sacrifice of the animal was discovered for the first time in the Ust-Chyorninskoye fortified settlement.
