Abstract
The Joint Expedition's 2018 excavation campaign initiated a new stage of research at the Moiltyn-am site in Сепtrа1 Mongolia. This archaeological complex is extremely important for understanding the Middle Paleolithic chronostratigraphy of eastern Central Asia. The lower horizons at Moiltyn-am include Middle Paleolithic assemblages characterized by Levallois technology and centripetal reduction. Our new investigations target dating, primarily by means of OSL, reconstruction of paleoenvironmental conditions during the period of sediment accumulation, creation and analysis of planigraphic models, and the character of the site's lithic industries. It has long been supposed that the Moiltyn-am site was destroyed due to recent anthropogenic activity, however we located an undisturbed area preserving thick sediments, allowing us to carry out a series of analyses and recover additional archaeological material.
