Abstract

In the field season of 2018, the Joint team of researchers from the Center for the Preservation of Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Amur Region, specialists from the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the SB RAS and the Blagoveshchensk State Pedagogical University, carried out archaeological excavations of the Chernigovka site, locus 5 as a rescue archaeology project in the Amur Region. On an area of 1680 square meters, a single-layer settlement complex of the early medieval Mikhailovskaya archaeological culture (the 3rd - 10th centuries AD) of the Western Amur region was studied. The site presented six dwellings with foundations and twenty-one utility pits. The site represents the first fully excavated settlement of Mikhailovskaya culture and the new data will provide an insight into the household and economic traditions of the relevant population.
