Abstract

The article describes the complex of three objects found during the excavation at Ust-Tartas-2. Small ceramic vessel on the pallet with a peculiar surface treatment with a serrated instrument is referred to the Novochekino culture. The artifacts made of bone and horn are associated with pottery production: it is a tool for surface treatment or ornamentation in the form of a «comb» and a horn polisher. Potter’s tools are rarely found at Western Siberia sites. The vessel on the pallet was recorded in the complex of the Novochekino culture of the early Iron Age for the first time. This fact can be regarded as a confirmation of the southern penetration of the Novochekino people, indicating their coexistence in Baraba with the population of the Sargat culture.
