Kogonchinskoye-19 Settlement: Preliminary Results of Archaeological Research

Abstract

Studies of the settlement sites of the 18th-19th centuries formerly populated by the indigenous peoples of the North are provide important information for evaluation of the development of culture and reliable comprehension of available ethnographic data in interpretation of ancient materials. The article describes results of the excavations of the Kogonchinskoye-19 settlement site established by the Yugan Khants in the first half of the 19th century. This settlement was located on the winter road from Tobolsk to Surgut and, obviously, was connected with various transportation services.
